The Art And Speed Of Growing Hair

I had the worst luck with my hair over the last 8-10 years. My hair didn’t grow past a certain length for various reasons; poor diet which led to health issues that I tried to disguise with heat and peroxide (remember my Rita Ora/ Shakira platinum blonde phase?). In late 2015, I decided to go on my version of a hair diet and I attempted to go on a hair detox that would take a year to complete. First, I transitioned from solid blonde to a grown out ombre color from my natural brunette roots and platinum ends. The inconsistent color of my tresses drove me insane so I started to color my hair back from blonde to dirty blonde to dark brown. Sadly, I didn’t consider Olaplex or any sort of protection, so my hair began to break from damage. I began to use hair extensions to disguise the fact that my hair didn’t gain length and it remained at shoulder length for over 11 months. In January 2017, I cut off all the …

The Hype About Crème de la Mer

According to cremedelamer.com, La Mer’s journey began when Dr. Max Huber suffered burns in an experiment gone awry and set out to create his own destiny. Physicist by day, stargazer and dreamer by night,he hoped to unlock the healing power of the sea he held so dear. Inspired by the oceanic world, Huber fermented nutrient-rich sea kelp with other natural ingredients. 12 years and 6,000 experiments later, Crème de la Mer was born –and Huber’s skin visibly restored. One thing that strucks you, when you hear about the Aerospace physicist Dr. Max Huber, who fifty years ago began to create what is now the dream cream of all women aged 20 and older, is the determination. The creation is actually all part of a drama, an explosion in the laboratory and severe burns after that. Not being able to find a solution neither medical nor scientific to his problem. Dr.Huber had to research a solution himself. After more than 6000 failed experiments, this research resulted in the creation of a cream which helped him partially …

4 Natural Skin Masks That Actually Work

I love it when something inexpensive works. Especially when it comes to my skin! Face masks are a treat, it buys you some me-time and it gives your skin a boost without much of a fuss. Here’s some basic natural skin mask recipes that can be whipped up in a jiffy. 1. Egg Whites Eggs can be beneficial for the skin because it contains two vital skin care ingredients: collagen and protein, which can yield positive results for those who are fighting any type of skin inflammation or fine lines and wrinkles. The proteins that are contained in an egg white mask help the skin improve and maintain its elasticity. Egg whites tighten the pores, making less room for impurities like blackheads. An egg white mask is made from raw eggs that have had their yolks removed. Once the eggs are separated, whip the egg whites into a frothy foam and then spread over the skin of the face until dry. Once the mask is dried, simply wash it away to reveal skin that appears …

What’s In That Make-Up Bag?

If I had a penny for everytime someone asked me about my amateur make-up regime, Alyssa would be a very wealthy woman! I wear make up to cover up my problematic skin, so taking care of my skin is a primary priority(we will save that for another Fabulous post on Queen Regnant!). This is pretty basic stuff, I don’t have any formal make up artistry skills, and I stick to the same make up routine everyday with the exception of lipstick colours and concealer, depending on my mood and the condition of my skin. Here’s the products in my makeup bag! Face Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation This foundation is oil-free, which is perfect for acne-prone skin, and hydrating. A little goes a long way and a dab here and there after the initial application works as well as a concealer. Clinique Stay Matte Sheer Pressed Powder This powder helps set my foundation in place and I use it to mattify my nose and chin throughout the day. Woolworths Face Complexion Perfector This is magic in …
